Rufus has been an absolute star this summer. He has been patient and calm while somewhat trapped in his paddock by long grass and an expanding goat herd. He stood alone and faced the tractors making hay right up to his fence line and has done his best without another horse around to boss about and share life with. We are getting there. The year moves on and the impassable standing grass is now hay and gateways are trimmed into a state where gates can be opened and it is possible that we may get shoes on and ride away again – a few more weeks will see how that idea works out we have one lot of electric fencing to make easier to negotiate, the willow tree to fell and a small shed to put up in Kites Close for the male goats and we will be able to see a way out we can easily use for circular rides and also he will have companions in both the top fields so his paddock can be rested and he can be in the best place for the weather conditions.
Sweet Itch wise things haven’t been too bad this year – quite a large mercy for both of us.
