Kicked off the edits with two scenes rewritten – 2940 – after I had reset the framework of the book – chapter and scene wise. It’s fair to say that as I write this 13/06/2019 I haven’t got into my stride with this.
The weather changed and that usually means I settle to write – but with my thoughts still drifting down memory lane following the death of an old friend and mentor – the lack of riding actually gave me a fit of the ‘glums’ and I started to give myself the two Fs – Fear and Failure.
However I thoroughly enjoyed Liz Gilberts latest book City of Girls – I mostly listened to it on Audible – and for once the fact that the Author wasn’t reading it didn’t matter – and the Voice Actress – Blair Brown – was superb – this was important in lifting the words off the page for this reader, who isn’t American, and can’t guess the nuances of accents arround New York. Given the way my thoughts were wandering this week, and the book’s theme of friendship, it was a perfect companion. It also continued the D Day landing era thoughts lingering from the previous week without dragging me back to the maudlin.
Other media imputs were ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ ( I think it was called that ) which was a goodlooking and harmless sort of romp- with a happy ending. I am totally off unhappy or vaguely wierd endings. I also sat through some film about Arthur ( as in King) not ging to name it as it was mostly CGI and the story was way down the list of things the audience might like to know.
Having said all that I am pretty positive and looking forward to getting on with it – and the sun just popped out as I typed that:) Can’t ask for more 🙂
