Old Friends and New…

What a year! My thoughts are mostly with my friend, and neighbour, Graham who is in Southampton Hospital as I type and is far away from his farm on this sunny day when I am sure he would have been out fencing with Ollie or other wise enjoying himself. There were easier ways of procuring a ride in a Helicopter…But I hope the Gods see fit to bring him home fit and well very soon – and not just because I want my garden fence finished 🙂

As I wrote about last time ‘things change’ and my regular Writing Group has swapped around a bit recently but as I have got less inclined to chat away there my old friends from the sinking Write Words jumped ship and set up a private group and invited me in so I find myself chatting with them instead which is utterly delightful. Both groups are fantastic and contain Writers and Authors who write across the board of genre and style, fiction and non, for pleasure and profit, Indie and Trad – we all share the same pains of the activity and know the bubbly moments when we get it right or Lady Luck deals us a break – in my case when I find a ladder on a board that I often feel is just fell of snakes ;0

This week I have regrouped a little – probably not with the Missionary zeal I might once have used. I cannot decide if my ’empty’ and still head is knackered, at peace or being a lazy ass ( Not a donkey) I have updated my pen Journals and my Google Calendar and all-but dusted the office pod in 27 ( I will do it later)  I have looked at my wall charts of the grand ‘7 Year Plan’ and re set it. I can see I was revising the Luckshill series to remove that setting I no longer wish to use and also to improve the consistency of the language in ‘upping’ the ages of the characters from 13 to 15 and that my next step is to re read both MS – Prequel and Book One – and high light both with that in mind.

Have also signed up to travel to a Society of Women Writers and Journalists meeting near me – right out of my comfort zone on all fronts – it is in a fortnight and I have that amount of time to get a personality transplant and an make over of clothes and hair but I suspect I will turn up as myself – like a Thelwell character rocking up in a Dell-Boy Trotter type van and with the conversational skills of the policeman in Allo Allo,  ‘Bon jours Zeut Allors! I was pissing past your doors.’ No – of course I am not bricking it because I am not even published – much… And then there could be snow… See March 2018 🙂
