Thanks But No …

Hum. Had an email this week amongst the usual asked-for and unwarranted invasions of my inbox that I could neither qualify or quantify. It might be proof of life or spam or a downright cheek.

I got sent a ‘Press Pack’ as these peoples’ algorithms had met with mine and the boxes ticked and the auto-responders hunter tried to gather me to push their product – that I don’t use right now as I am not published – flattered to be selected by machinery? Not much.

A human would have read the Blogs and not bothered; and if a human did read the Blogs then they might have rephrased their copy or personalised it. And they might have asked to send me the Press Pack and not just done it.

I am nosey so I checked it out and can honestly say this newby Author has no idea what to do with the contents and that back fires on the sender too.

There was, I will point out also, no quid pro quo offered for free advertising. Now I am not an affiliate of anyone- if my sites carry badges it is because I use and like the businesses behind them and I reserve the right to tell the truth about my personal experiences doing so for them and any other product and services I use I am not in business trying peoples products for my own financial enrichment.

Should I reply or not? Well of course I did – they are legit and popular and I may use their products when I publish and this isn’t personal. Let’s call it feed back. But as I am not on their email list it was basically Spam – as if it was a pitch it wasn’t well thought out – if I had been a house they would have broken a window.
